Building a Region Taxonomy You Can Maintain
A short method for naming markets so reports stay comparable month to month.
A durable taxonomy lists inclusion rules: ISO codes, city clusters, language markets, and exclusions such as staff or synthetic traffic. Vague labels like “emerging Asia” invite debate the first time a campaign uses them.
Write each region as if another analyst must rebuild it without you. Name the fields, lookbacks, and edge cases.
Attach one primary metric each region is meant to move. That pairing turns geography into decisions instead of decoration.
